MEET THE FOUNDER
Hi, I’m Paulino.
I’ve lived in a few different countries over the years, and along the way I’ve become familiar with the chaos of travelling internationally with pets.
When I moved from Lisbon to Boston with my two dogs, Dino and Toula, and my cat, Pepe—better known as Pinot—I thought I had everything figured out. I didn’t.
The moments you don’t forget.
One of our travel crates broke while we were loading it into the car the night before our flight. When we moved back to Portugal, Dino and his crate were over the airline’s weight limit at check-in. The staff allowed us to travel that day, but it brought home how easily one overlooked detail could put the whole journey at risk.
Then there were the less memorable, but equally stressful, details: understanding the paperwork, getting vaccinations and health certificates done within the right timeframes, and working out each airline’s requirements. Getting something wrong could mean not being able to travel with my pets.
The plan I wished I’d had.
My professional background is in communications and marketing. I’ve always enjoyed finding ways to make complicated things easier to understand. That’s where the idea for Pawperwork came from.
I wanted a place where you could figure out what needed to be done, when it needed to happen, and what to expect along the way, without piecing everything together from a dozen different websites.
Those experiences shaped the product: a checklist to organise the paperwork, dates for the steps that depend on timing, and carrier and crate checks to help you spot problems earlier.
Experience behind the idea. Sources behind the plan.
Personal experience explains why Pawperwork exists. Its travel guidance is based on published requirements from authorities and transport providers, with sources and review dates available to check.
The Crew is an AI assistant and can make mistakes. Personal Document Review is a separate human review of your itinerary and documents; it does not issue certificates or guarantee travel acceptance. Your vet, the authorities and your carrier make the final decisions.
Two dogs, one cat, and a reason to make it easier.
Dino, Toula and Pinot inspired the illustrated Crew you meet in Pawperwork. They bring some personality to the planning, while the focus stays on your pets and your journey.
Pawperwork is still growing, but its purpose is simple: make travelling with your pets less stressful, so you can spend less time worrying about the paperwork and more time looking forward to the adventure together.
